About this list
Several clubs around Lisbon teach their youngest players alongside the adults. The Peões club in Vila Nova de Caparica runs a youth chess school on Tuesday and Thursday early evenings, the Sintra club has classes for children alongside its adult training, and Grupo de Xadrez Alekhine teaches young players on Sundays in Avenidas Novas. In Benfica a neighbourhood club teaches children and teenagers, and the Campo de Ourique athletic club sorts its classes by age and level.
School chess clubs belong here as well: St. Julian's School in Carcavelos runs one in English for its pupils, and a school grouping in Lisbon starts children at pre-school age, both for enrolled pupils only. The EDP staff club welcomes members' families of any age. Ask the club about age groups, fees and the season's start date.
