Chess groups and meetups around Lisbon 6
About this list
Some of Lisbon's chess has no club hall of its own. Lisbon Gambit, a meetup group, plays on Thursday evenings in a bar and holds brunch games in a garden on some Sundays, where players bring a board if they have one. Musa Chess Society sets up chess evenings at the Musa brewery bars in Marvila and Bica, and Pieces Chess Club moves from venue to venue, once to an art gallery with food and a DJ.
In Graça the O Relâmpago association keeps a chess and oware section that meets on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. The Alcântara library has hosted chess tournaments, and across the river PDX Barreiro organises the Barreiro circuit along with school and club tournaments. Dates move from month to month here, so check the group's own page or event list before going.
