Every entry here is listed as a club: an association or society that exists to play chess, with or without a room of its own. Some open their doors to visitors on club nights, others admit members only.

Whether you can walk in, what membership costs and which evenings are club nights all vary; a card states only what a source says and marks the rest “not stated by sources”. Before visiting, read the access line and the session table, and if in doubt, write to the club. A club marked “not confirmed” may still be active: the newest dated trace we found is old or missing, which is not the same as the club having dissolved.
