Places to play chess on a Friday 6

Friday is club night for the chess societies of Sintra and Avenidas Novas. The Sintra chess club plays late into the evening, close to midnight, and Grupo de Xadrez Alekhine holds its weekly meeting after work. Earlier in the day the EDP staff club plays in the afternoon, and the Campo de Ourique athletic club has had a Friday session of its own, now suspended for building works.

Away from the clubs, Defuse Cafe in Picoas holds a Friday game night where chess is one of the games on the shelf, and a community centre in Olivais has offered late-afternoon sessions open to the public on Fridays and other weekdays. Holidays and room bookings can cancel a Friday, so confirm with the organiser first.
